Group Workshops

Focused live studies in violin technique, musicianship, and intelligent practice.

The Group Workshops are live 55-minute studies devoted to specific areas of violin playing—from intonation, bow technique, vibrato, and double stops to repertoire study and the art of practicing itself.

Each workshop takes one clearly defined subject and gives us the time to examine it closely: how it works, what commonly prevents it from working, and how to practice it more effectively.

These are not lectures. Bring your violin. We work.

A Different Subject Each Week

The workshop series moves through the many interconnected areas of violin playing.

One week we might investigate intonation through sympathetic resonance and finger placement. Another might be devoted to freedom in the bow arm, double stops, vibrato as an expressive tool, or dismantling a difficult repertoire passage and turning it into technical study.

Topics are chosen because they address real problems violinists encounter in their playing.

Recent and upcoming studies include:

Intonation · Double Stops · Bow Technique · Vibrato · Repertoire · Practice

How the Workshops Work

We meet live on Zoom for approximately 55 minutes.

Each workshop combines explanation, demonstration, guided exercises, and time to apply the ideas directly to your own playing.

You will leave with more than information. The aim is to give you specific work you can take back into your own practice.

Who Are the Workshops For?

The workshops are designed for adult violinists who want to understand their playing more deeply and develop practical ways of working.

You do not need to study privately with me or be a current student of the Broadbent School of Violin Artistry.

Because each workshop is a self-contained study, you can attend the subjects that are most relevant to your playing.
