I completely understand. As an adult beginner, you feel a bit of a disadvantage that your learning time has been reduced by your time on this Earth. You don’t have any time to waste.

That is why I am here for you..to create a violin fundamentals program that saves you TONS of time by setting up your fundamental journey properly for fast and effective advancement on the violin. All you have to do is implement. No more searching. It is possible for you to see massive improvements even if all you have is 30 minutes a day of concentrated mindful practice.

KNOWING HOW AND WHERE TO START CAN MAKE OR BREAK YOUR VIOLIN JOURNEY.

  • You have a difficult time with note reading and the correlation to the violin.

  • YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A STEP BY STEP VIDEO program WITH BOOKS INCLUDED TO SET UP A PROPER FOUNDATION FOR YOUR VIOLIN JOURNEY

  • You know your intonation and your fourth finger needs improvement.

  • You want concentrated and effective practice sessions.

  • You have no desire to waste time

  • YOU FEEL MUSCULARLY INEPT WHEN IT COMES TO PLAYING THE VIOLIN

THIS ISN’T FOR YOU IF:

  • You think you can learn to play the violin in 7 days.
  • If you underestimate the importance of setting up a proper foundation at the beginning of your violin journey and think you can progress by learning the violin on your own via free youtube videos.

KNOWING HOW AND WHAT TO PRACTICE CAN MAKE OR BREAK YOUR VIOLIN JOURNEY!

Mastering Violin Fundamentals is the program that WILL help you jumpstart your first steps in your violin journey. With techniques passed from the top violinists and compiled into this course, you will master the fundamentals of playing the violin in a matter of months, not years!

Yes! You will have helpful exercises, training videos and further educational study if desired. After completing Mastering Violin Fundamentals you will understand how the bow arm works and what muscle motions are exactly needed for pulling straight bows while playing one string at a time and also understand the execution of basic rhythms with the right hand. You will also be able to play three one octave major scales and have all the technical foundation needed for the beginning of your violin journey.

SNEAK PEEK:

As an adult beginner violinist who wants to accomplish everything in a short amount of time, I was overwhelmed looking at the many techniques I need to master to play beautifully. Fortunately, I found Heather and her Violin Journey Mapping Program.

The program helps me focus on my goals, also helps me structure and organize my daily practice session. This is very important for me who started to play violin as an adult.
Aside from the technical aspect, the program also prepares me to be positive throughout my violin journey and appreciate ourselves more.
I think this program is for me to keep for life because every once in a while, I go back the videos and inspiration in the program to help me make sure I am on track.

Heather’s teaching is very organized and clear.

The course was EXTREMELY organized and it is a very useful course, that not only can be translated to one’s violin journey, but in daily life as well.

I’m looking forward to staying focused on my goals and timelines, and now have a clear path to do so.

Strengthening Exercises for First Position educates violinists how to excel in first position via six different finger patterns. The book focuses on finger relationships on the same string and across the instrument. This book also focuses on three distinct issues typically neglected in other method books with exercises to implement: importance of holding fingers down, lifting fingers, and the importance of hovering fingers.

This course is perfect for first position newbies and seasoned first position players wanting to improve intonation. The exercises mindfully practiced at a faster tempo can help more advanced players discover and fix their first position intonation inconsistencies.

Strengthening Exercises for First Position is organized into six of the most common first position finger patterns allowing the violinist to study first position via finger relationships. There are four exercises for each finger pattern:

Preparatory Exercise – an introduction to the finger pattern on all four strings with half steps marked.
Eliminate Flyaway Fingers – an exercise to encourage hovering fingers allowing for faster more accurate playing.
Marching Fingers – an exercise to be practiced in two ways, holding fingers down and lifting fingers.
Finger Pattern Exercise – an exercise exploring every finger combination possible with the finger patter on one string.

At the beginning of every finger pattern section of Strengthening Exercises for First Position method E-Book is an image of the finger pattern to be studied giving the violinist a visual of the finger pattern for the following exercises.

Each exercise within the 89 page book focuses on applying healthy violin playing techniques for that specific finger pattern on that specific string. 24 strengthening exercises play along videos are included.

All of Heather Kaye’s exercises/books/programs on violin technique are wonderful and extremely helpful. Beginners have a starting point and can learn a lot faster and advanced players also have a starting point for refreshing and upgrading their violin playing. I highly recommend Heather’s books to every violinist!

Music Literacy – How to Read Music and More is designed specifically for violinists.  It is an ideal program for newbie to beginner violinists wanting to learn how to read music as it relates to the violin. Perhaps you were never taught or never learned how to read music and you only know how to play by ear. Perhaps you know the basics of reading notes but need help with key signatures, how to build major and minor scales from specific key signatures. In this program, note-reading music is broken down in simple steps with 32 strategically placed training videos with a checklist to track your progress. to facilitate fluency as fast as possible. This self paced course includes 10 Modules plus 2 Bonus Modules which includes a 30 minute sight reading workshop video and 11 video collection for teaching music reading and 3 BONUS E-Books to practice and implement your new found note reading skills.

Music Theory is extremely important for all musicians; however, for some reason it is one of the most underrated topics ever taught in violin lessons especially in private violin studios. I started with piano before violin and had my note reading underway at 5 years of age but not everyone has this type of exposure. I love reading music and teaching reading music. Music theory is truly imperative to learning pieces well and really understanding them on a deeper level.

This course will give you the skills to read music and basic music theory skills to start to theoretically analyze your current pieces.

Music Literacy is a must have program for all violinists that do not know how to read music, do not have access to a teacher to teach them to read music or are working with a teacher that doesn’t stress note reading or basic music theory.

“I wanted to learn to play the violin so I signed up to be a student of Heather. My goal is to be able to sight read music on the fly!

I have gone thru Music Literacy: How to Read Music and More many times. Because of this course, I now can read violin music.

I can also read music for my guitar, bass, and piano. Before this course, I always played by ear. Reading music cuts down on my time when learning a song. It has taught me a lot about dynamics, note value timing and how to play the song I want to learn the way it is written in Treble and Bass Clef.  Heather is a very good teacher! I hope this course will help you also.”

I just started watching the videos, including the teacher training and all I can say is I am so glad you made this course available.

Even though I have a local teacher and she is fantastic helping me (as an adult beginner) having access to the videos/lessons is priceless. Thank you Heather

Violinists that have worked with me know that I probably over deliver….This Mastering Fundamentals Academy is the home for all of my fundamental training videos and exercise books.

Mastering Fundamentals Academy is a living organism. The excitement and needs of my students encourage me to create and write even more exercises, etudes and training videos for the purpose of violin journey evolution.

Hi, I’m Heather Kaye! I’m so glad you want to know a bit about who I am. I always tell people who ask me how to determine who to study from that it is always good to investigate your teacher’s education. When you learn or study from someone, they will pass down information they recieved from their education mixed with personal experience.

The training you receive from me is filtered through a lifetime of studying and playing the violin (and piano.)

My education consists of a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder. I have had the opportunity to study from what I consider the best teachers in the world including Takacs String Quartet, concert violinist Rachel Barton Pine and Harold Wippler (teacher of Eugene Fodor, the first American to place in the Tchaikovsky competition.)

I have to warn you some people will tell you they studied with famous teachers even if it was just one lesson or masterclass they attended. My herstory is that I studied and trained years with these amazingly talented violinists.

While in the States, I won auditions for Wisconsin Philharmonic and the sublist for Milwaukee Ballet. I played professionally in over 25 different Stateside symphonic, opera and chamber orchestras from Chicago to Green Bay, Wisconsin to Des Moines, Iowa to Springfield, Illinois as section violin, principal second, associate concertmaster and concertmaster before performing in Europe.

Currently, I perform in Bulgaria with the Yambol Chamber Orchestra “Dianapolis.”

My students have won concerto competitions, placed as concertmasters and performed at Carnegie Hall.

If you would like to read even more about me head on over to the About page for more juicy deets.

YOU HAVE EVERYTHING TO GAIN AND NOTHING TO LOSE!

MFA has something for every violinist. Beginners will benefit from every single exercise and be ultimately challenged with exercises that will remain in their violin journey for the entire violin journey.

Intermediate level violinists may find the first exercises as ones to skip but the remaining exercises will definitely be beneficial to the immediate and future violin journey.

Advanced violinists…working on concertos and beyond…would find benefit in the shifting, positions and hand frame finger fitness exercises. These exercises are beneficial even for the most advanced players as necessary daily practice.

MFA is also EXCELLENT for violin teachers! However, MFA books have to be purchased separately for students in private studios as stated in terms of use and terms of conditions.

Some portions yes.. however, all exercises are written specifically for violinists and not for violists.
