Get to know Jann Cook, Wyoming violinist!
Jann loves to play her violin for hours a day and has progressed so much in a short amount of time. She found me online via youtube videos and decided that I was the teacher for her.
I chose Jann for our January violinist of the month because of her inspiring spirit and drive. She enjoys the freedom of learning via the studio video exchange.
Once we started working online together, we realized that she had a connection with my family. Jann lives in Lyman where my family had a large sheep rance at one time. Talk about a small world!
Jann fills her cold Wyoming days with the love of playing the violin. She finds playing the violin healing and serves as a connection between her and her daughter who has passed on.
It is so easy to underestimate the healing power of music. We may think, how can something so simple as music be so powerful or because it is a part of our every day lives we just simply take it for granted.
As a professional musician, I have to say that it is easy to lose sight of that little spark that led me to the violin over 40 years ago. It is easy to take for granted the fact that every time I sit down to play the piano I have joy in my heart.
This is why I love working with violinists all over the world to help their violin journeys become easier and in turn they inspire and remind me of my own love for music.
Thanks Jann for sharing your violin journey with us!
